DAY SIX Signs With LION MUSIC

April 7, 2010

Lion Music has announced the signing of the Dutch progressive rock/metal band DAY SIX. The group's new album, "The Grand Design", is scheduled for release on June 18. The CD contains nine tracks and clocks in at over 70 minutes.

Since forming in 2002, DAY SIX has become a mainstay on the live Dutch music scene and won two major competitions in the Netherlands: the "Metal Battle" and the "Aardschok Metal Bash". As a result, DAY SIX has developed into one of the most well-known progressive metal bands in the country.

With a sound that combines elements from across progressive music's history, the band has come up with a unique take on the genre which is equal parts dark and light making great use of dynamics and textures. Comparisons could be made between a fusion of PINK FLOYD, RUSH and OPETH, where colossal guitar riffs collide and intertwine with synthesized textures for a truly mesmerizing effect. The band's live show is also winning rave reviews, with the four-piece of Robbie van Stiphout (guitar, vocals),Nick Verstappen (bass),Dolf van Heugten (synthesizers) and Daan Liebregts (drums) wowing audiences with their spectacular delivery.
